I had a message asking if they could buy a couple of my paintings as NFT. Well, I don't really understand how this works or what I should reply. They want a sketch, a pastel and an oil painting I did. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I’ve had a couple of those Denise - I don’t understand it either but I’ve ignored such requests and then quietly blocked them later…probably unfair of me but I don’t trust this NFT stuff.
Thanks Emma, I've just been trying to read about it but it still makes no sense, I think I'll give it a wide berth, I just don't understand the functioning of it.
Denise I have just looked at Urth. Co , physical - nft it has a explanation, but you might have already done this. Basically a system of on line gallery’s.
Haven't come across this - obviously, no one loves me!  Except me, of course: I sleep with myself every night, and what an experience it is! Treat such approaches with great caution: the killer question is, do they want your money?  If so, avoid - sedulously.  If not - well; I doubt if a bit of exposure will do any harm, but always read the small print.
Denise, there’s a good guide on creativebloq.com  ‘How to Make and Sell an NFT’.  One of my nieces has done quite well out of NFT art, but it seems hugely complicated to set up - it’s based on cryptocurrency, and involves set up costs. You would need to buy a ‘cryptocurrency wallet’ and pay to have your artwork ‘minted’ initially with no guarantee of a sale once it’s digitised - and like mining for cryptocurrency the process can have a high carbon footprint, so not very eco-friendly.  The article’s fascinating and worth a read.

Thanks Robert and Jenny. I will have a read Jenny as she says she wants to buy as NFT'S but that is over my head. I didn't have the work up for sale in the first place and NFT is something that never crossed my mind. So does she want me to mint them so she can buy them, it sounds like too much messing about. Cryptocurrency is all crypto to me. I will have a read of the guide Jenny. We all love you here Robert.
It also sounds like a complicated way to sell a painting… if there’s money up front to outlay, you can bet there’s only going to be one beneficiary, and it probably won’t be you! I’ve not heard of NFT before, but I don’t like the sound of it…

Thanks Alan, yes, it all appears very complicated so I don't think I'll be bothering.
She wants to buy them for 9,500$ each, she said I just need to mint them. Obviously to good to be true, so I'll ignore it.
Absolute scam, yes, you must ignore it Denise. I’ve no doubt there are suckers out there who’d fall for it, but we’re all a bit too wise on this site! I’m wondering if they’re after a hi-res scan in order to steal your image for print!
