I very much doubt that it’s a Microsoft issue… something more simple such as replacing a lead as has already been suggested, would be the more likely cause! All my stuff is wireless, printer, Nikon camera to iMac and iPhone, keyboard, mouse etc. So much better but it means expensive upgrades!
Jim, I feel your pain….. with stuff communicating with other stuff one minute (well, for years) and then not. I have found that if one device updates something, it then no longer works with everything else it used to work with. Two years ago I borrowed my mums camera to take on holiday (as a camera has a bit better quality snaps than a phone). Took all the cables I thought I’d need with me, to transfer pics to iPad every so often. (As I used to do) No.  iPad and little camera would not talk to each other. After a while. Camera ran out of space, amd had to finish holiday with phone snaps. Then when I got home it was an arduous task getting the snaps from the camera, onto the computer… but hey ho. Anyway! 2 years later…. Same ‘equipment’ (mums camera, my phone, my iPad, etc)…… there’s now an App. I download this Nikon app and it collects all the pics off the camera, and puts them in between all the extra pics I took on my phone in the right date/time they took place.  I don’t know how. But I was well pleased.

Thanks all for the advice. My son reckons my camera has had its day, so I'm smiling at my wife and hoping..(   to be continued
Good luck with that, Jim - I found that my printer wouldn't work with my desktop pc any more: online support totally useless, until I had one of my extremely rare brainwaves, and sought out new drivers for the printer; downloaded them and - it worked! I expect your son is far more knowledgable than I am (THAT wouldn't be hard...) but you could try the same thing: if your camera is very old, finding the up to date drivers could be hard or impossible, but then again: could be worth a try. Failing that - if you have another birthday coming up this is what you need to put on your wish-list.  But you'll have already thought of that.
Yep Robert, and already got it today. It's an Agfa digital camera, but I need some lessons in using it as things change so quickly. Why can't they leave things alone that work?
