Some really great sketches as usual everyone.  Hope you don’t mind me dropping in, can’t always do art everyday but this was a small practice on trees.
Those are beautifully done Hilary.:
More the merrier Hilary!  Great trees !
That's lovely Hilary. Gillian your sketches are coming along nicely. I found some live figure drawing on YouTube, last week I think. I'm not that interested in life drawing itself but understand it's very important in art and that everyone should learn it. I've just spent half an hour now but I do intend making it regular, when I have a spare half an hour. I'll make it part of my routine like having a cup of tea, taking a couple of hours out of the week to learn more about oriental art and such. Obviously we can't learn everything or we would have no time to paint and draw the things we really want too.
Hilary ducks - of course no one minds you looking in, you don't have to keep up a schedule of work: blimey, I work as slowly as a very old tortoise trying to cross the road; and don't submit many sketches, now I come to think of it; I think I shall take your example and pop in now and then.   It's always good to see your work, and others' work too - many more others, I hope.  I'm on a bit of a watercolour kick right now, but I don't think it's likely to last long: I get very fed up with waiting for it to dry - I have one on the go, but they seem to take me longer to finish than oil paintings.
Denise, everything you've so far turned your hand to has been impressive to many of us, and your figure drawings are no exception.  Your point about the importance of figure drawing, and trying everything you can manage, is true: I used to do a lot of figure caricature, but rarely closely observed work.  I did one of these as a sort of rebuke to Facebook, who were getting very prissy about nudes at the time - if I can find it, I'll pop it on here; should I succeed - do NOT allow it to influence you in any way.   I call him 'Beefcake'.  Lots of cake...
That's brilliant Robert and especially good light and shadow. and Robert, I just practice a lot because I live and breathe it now. I really do love it so much. My mind is filled with art, 24 hours a day, it doesn't get much better than that.
Nice one Robert! Totally agree about practice Denise it really is the best way!
Another slightly disproportionate poser! I can but try!
Denise, there’s a live drawing event run by the National Gallery this evening at 6:30 pm you have to book but it’s free. Thanks Robert for your kind words.  Gillian I love your sketches, life drawing is something I haven’t tried yet, one day…mmmm
Thanks Hilary, I will take a look.
I got a ticket Hilary, I was late logging on so was a few minutes late for the first one but it was good.It was more about getting the details, colour and fabrics in. Slightly different to what I was expecting. The actual link was very dark and it was quite difficult to see and I did check the settings on my computer. They have a feedback questionnaire, so I will log back in tomorrow and point this out. It was good practice and I will certainly look for others running. Thanks Hilary. This was 20 mins.
