I agree with all that’s been said. I rarely have more than one painting on the go at any time but when I read articles in The Artist etc it seems that many professional artists find it useful to have a few and to swap between.  Colin thanks for the reminder that Spring is not far away! Thank goodness. I feel I spent much of last year waiting for the opportunity to paint plein air but it hardly ever happened because there was rarely a day when the weather was good enough on a day I could paint and with Covid restrictions didn’t want people looking over my shoulder! I’ve just read Pete The Street’s book on his painting trips to India and found that very inspiring. He painted three or even four paintings a day with constant onlookers. It’s a very good read if anyones interested.
I've noticed the days already getting longer Colin, that extra 5 minutes of daylight for painting makes all the difference. Tessa, your sketches are very good when you are out and about from what I remember on the sketching forum, you seem to have the skill to pick up on that immediate moment, I really enjoy looking at them when you put them on.
Thank you Denise. I appreciate that. Our art group restarts this Thursday so we’ll see what that brings!
I don’t really get a block as I do regular art classes.  I have my regular local class, which is currently online.  The current project is rocks, tonal, then colour and then in the landscape.  I would normally do a portrait class, but currently suspended.  I have also picked up a series of zoom classes.  For a tenner a month I get 4 weekly art classes.  There is no shortage of inspiration.  I have had to work smaller to keep up with the schedule and abandon the idea of painting on canvas, because of storage.  This week, I am painting boats in watercolour, a Rubén’s portrait in acrylic, landscape in pastel and more.  I also get keepfit and other things including Bollywood dancing in the same deal!  Life is exciting during a pandemic!
I might look for a beginners portrait class Linda, as you know, I've never been to one, I bet I will advance much quicker with everything. The Bollywood dancing sounds great.
Wow Linda, that's impressive!
I rarely do canvas and quite often get blocks. When it happens I usually just find a painting online I like and do a sketch book version. Does no harm and it's practise at the same time.
Linda Wonder Woman…would like to see the Bollywood dancy you .
Great ideas on here.  I'm in the procrastinators category. I did nothing for about 4 weeks because so much else was going on and I don't like to get interrupted. I like the idea of quick sketches of a painting I've seen. I'm okay picking a subject to paint in full, but when I open a sketch book I stare at the empty pages.
Norrette ,  we all do.
I've got total brick-wall block right now. Can't even take my own previous advice. I've drawn, sketched and painted so many topics I'm completely out of gas. I'm hoping just leaving it all alone for a while may work. Arthritis in my right hand isn't helping as detail is really frustrating and difficult hard work.  I'm used to working really fast, but right now I can hardly credit how bad my work is. Hopefully, it will pass over soon, but right now.... Jim.
Horrid Jim.   No fun.  I’ve just been for a walk ( it stopped raining for a few minutes) I picked a few catkins from a hedge row and found some feathers…might be a stop gap.
