Not been posting for a while but thought I’d say Hi and give my sister some support as a new member. Noticed both Jim’s Van Gogh inspired paintings and Alan’s comment so thought I’d let you all know about an exhibition that’s on at the moment in York which my sister treated me to at the weekend. It’s based in St Mary’s Church in Castlegate and runs till Jan 2020. If you’re not too far away it is a must see!!! It’s known as an ‘immersive experience’ and it certainly is that with projections of Van Gogh paintings on the church walls with lovely relaxing music and voice overs. There’s also an extra virtual reality part which is an amazing experience if you’ve never done it before being transported into the world of Van Gogh and floating through Arles.
Any work by van Gogh, would be a treat, Rachel. There was an exhibition at Tate Britain, van Gogh and Britain (from what I've read, it didn't go too well) until August 11th, I was hoping to meet a group of friend there, and write some haiku, related to his work, but as always work comes first. I do hope there will be a good response to this event. Thank you for this post
Oh, gosh, Rachel, I can see how my post reads now I have read your post. I was referring to his stay in Britain. He did, or tried to, do some preaching, from what I've read the burly northerners didn't take too kindly to his ways, and thought he was quite eccentric, and had to give that a miss. Glad you and your sister had a worthwhile experience at the exhibition.

Any trip to Amsterdam should include a look round the Van Gogh museum. Highly recommended
Many thanks Rachel I live in Hull not many miles from York and will go to see the exhibition. Thanks for posting as I have not heard about this exhibition despite scouring social media and local news for anything with an Art twist.
Hardly Van Gogh, but I went to our hometown Bolton Food and Drinks Festival yesterday. A big and very well organised event with T.V chefs (The Hairy Bikers etc) doing demos etc. Lots of crowds, food, music and noise and....a sizeable marqee devoted to an art ehibition and sale. A fair cross section of art covered and some of it very decent. Most impressive for me was the very high quality of framing on some quite pricey works (signed proof prints of watercolours in excess of £300 etc ) A decent day out with art attached. 😆
