Does anyone know if  'Art materials live' is still held at the N.E.C Birmingham? I have tried phoning but no answer.
No idea Carol, but there should be an itinerary of shows and events for the coming year surely online…  It’s a huge venue, someone must be manning the phone lines… I expect that you’ve already looked of course! Sorry, not much help on this occasion!

Thanks for your swift reply, Alan. I have looked online but found nothing that indicates that wonderful event. I'll try phoning again, today.
I don’t know if lt helps Carol, but I did find a reference online that seems to suggest it has been made part of “ The creative crafts show”, on at the NEC 31st October to 3rd November.
Alan M, thanks for taking the time to search for this, its just what I wanted. Helps if the correct search words are used, I've done this and up it came. All I have to do now is book a coach seat and a ticket. Good to have something to look forward to :) Thanks again.
Hello Carol - I am going to the show on the Thursday and I went to the one earlier in the year. It was around the time of my birthday so I dropped a lot of hints! The vast majority of stalls were textile based, which I also enjoy, but there were a few painting ones and other more unusual crafts like marquetry and mosaic. I managed to come away with a fair bit of course!! It was well organised too which was good. Plus, I managed to squeeze in the Pre-Raphaelites in Birmingham Art Gallery afterwards! Yes, get looking forward to it, it's a good day out.
Hi Sarah 'dropped a lot of hints' that made me smile. I'll have a try at that :) Always up to try something new, so it looks like a good day out. I, too, hope I'll be coming back with a fair bit. Doubt if I'll get into Birmingham, that day, but there are Christmas shoppers available being run by a local coach company, another day out to keep in mind.
Bringing this up as I can't find the thread about a particular art shop, for 'Turner' watercolour paints, Alan, mentioned. I'm going for a 'London, Christmas shopper trip' week today. Please can you remind me, Alan. Thankyou, in advance.

I think you either mean the round discs that I use, or the full pans in the wooden box with palette. Either way, they are manufactured by Wallace Seymour, formally Pip Seymour.  They aren’t cheap, and they aren’t as easy to use as standard watercolours. But, if you can get to grips with them, the colours are pure ‘Turner’. I needed them for a feature I did in TA, and I was given the box of paints by Pip, but I originally bought the discs at £50, they are more now! I’m trying to think of the art shop that stocks them, but you should find that online. I’ll have a look and come back on that one… Anything else I’ve missed, let me know! Update: choosingkeeping.com

Ah, lovely job, Alan. Its the pans I'm interested in. I've just had a look at an unboxing and using these, and a tour of the shop, online. A treasure chest of lovely and interesting art materials.  I'll also be having a look for Jackson's art shop 1 Farleigh Place.  A busy day ahead :) Many thanks Alan.
That looks like a very interesting shop, especially for Christmas gifts.  If you are in the Covent Garden area, Carol, there's a very unprepossessing store called the London Graphic Centre - 2 floors of artists goodies when you venture inside.   I must make it out to Farleigh Place one day. Even though I'm West London it's still a trek for me. I'm now thinking of L. Cornelissen & Son which is near the British Museum, easier for me to get to. Has anyone visited there?
I have been to Jackson’s at Farleigh Place some years ago. It was a delight as is their shop in Gloucester which I now live nearer. Cass Arts is also good though quite small.
