I moved house a few weeks before Xmas and once the house was sorted out the main was to get a garden room to move all my art equipment into it and a space to paint. I've been very busy the past couple of weeks kitting it out with insulation and flooring. The light went in today. I bought an office chair which is coming tomorrow, it has lumbar support, which I need. An l-shaped desk is coming in a few days. The space is 8ft x 10ft. I'll have heating when I need it. It has two long windows and double doors with full length windows so plenty of natural light till the sun goes down. I will be able to use it all year round. I have to say, that, sometime this week, I'll be able to really get stuck back into my painting again now that it's finished. Hoorah.
With dog as well, everything you need!  Mind you I'd build a model railway in it if it was mine................. Peter
Looks absolutely brilliant Denise , I hope you have many hours of pleasure out there .
I have studio envy…. Really nice, Denise
Thanks, yes the natural light is really very good in there. I,ll be in there more than in the house. Peter, you should get one.
Lucky you Denise, looks great!
So pleased for you - I'd love a set-up like that, and you've made a very good job of preparing it for use; heating is very important, especially for those of us with pain issues, as I know you have.  You'll need to be tidy, as I suspect you are - 8' by 10' is good, but once you've got all your equiment in there, it won't be exactly cavernous.   Anyway - this should be perfect for you: AND you've got the dog to keep you company while you work.  There are stirrings of envy here in the Batcave!
PS - excellent easel you've got there, just what you need.  I have two, one of which is the same 'Diana' sketching easel which my parents bought for me some 57 years ago - it's got metal spikes on its feet though, so would scratch your floor.
Denise what a lovely space to work in!  I am sure you will spend many happy productive hours in your studio!
Just try winkling her out of it, that'll be the problem.
Fabulous studio room Denise… it will feel and look more like a painter’s studio once the walls and ceiling are permeated with the wonderful smell of oil paint, as well as mass splattering of paint everywhere… but that’s me… I’m sure you’ll be very careful and tidy… Looks a decent radial easel, what more could you ask for! Inspiration perhaps!
Any new space is exciting because it’s bare and empty and you can be methodical as you plan where everything will go - looks great Denise! I’m at the stage where cupboards and drawers are full of forgotten things, I keep saying to myself I’ll have a go at throwing out, it’ll take days if not weeks! But all is beginning for you Denise and that’s exciting.
