We invite our Studio Members to take part in our Portraits of Influence Members Challenge, a celebration of the women who matter most to you. Paint or draw your mother, daughter, sister,  grandmother, or a woman whose presence has left a lasting mark on your life. Mother’s Day is fast approaching. While its modern expression may be shaped by commerce, at its heart it remains a moment to honour the women who shape us, mothers, grandmothers, and those whose influence quietly defines who we become.    Artists have long returned to this subject. From the composed restraint of Arrangement in Grey and Black No.1 by James McNeill Whistler to the intimate tenderness of The Child’s Bath (1893) by Mary Cassatt, depictions of motherhood span strength, devotion, complexity and care. As we head into Mother’s Day this weekend, we’re delighted to congratulate our member Marjorie Firth, the winner of our Portraits of Influence competition.
