Following a discussion on another thread I decided to start Sketch a day bagging . Gillian Cooke started it originally and it worked well for quite a while . I hope you join in and enjoy sketching. A few to start with but I will do new ones to add . The third one is how I set up for a marine painting as I find the more detailed the sketch the better the final painting .
Glad this is back Paul, and you have a good selection to work with. Here's another of my park sketches, done yesterday in the park  in ink and the wash added just now.
Smashing work, Dixie. Andrew the colour pallet you have chosen works very well.
I like Dixie and Andrew's sketches.  Don't know about you, but I often get ideas for pictures and then forget them.  Sometimes I do scribbly sketches to remind myself...I should do it every time I get an idea. These are reminder scribbles I've done for an idea about men playing boule, I'd need to sort out a composition first (of course).  When I get round to it, like Dixie, I'd prefer to do a fairly detailed drawing.
Lew, your guy on the left is the same shape as his boule, and I wouldn’t like to argue with him!  I have a friend who plays boules locally but I’ve never seen it.  So glad to see this back, thank you for re starting it. Good sketches all round.  These are a couple of geese I sketched recently and they were literally moving as I drew them, so no great detail here. Apologies for the photos!
The facial expressions on your characters are wonderful, Lewis. There's a vast array of talent within the forum, and very inspiring. You've caught the shape and essence of the geese, Tessa. I know they don't gallop about, but this is still good work. Must try it with my sheep, and unless my sheepdogs are behind them, the are usually quite static. Doubt if they will be rendered as good as yours.
Well t least you have ready made subjects there Carol! How about your dogs as well?
I like a few of you have several sketch book , a rough scribble one, one for horses , marine and one for figures. A couple from my scribble / rough one and two from the marine pad .
Here is an offering from Orkney and Paul thanks for picking up from where left off!! Completely forgot to set up September sketch a day!!!
Two superb trawlers Gill, starting the thread off followed a discussion about sketching etc and how we soon stop . Having somewhere to put them help to focus on doing more and get on each day where possible but it’s not a do one everyday thing more when in the mood
Totally agree Paul and sometimes life just gets in the way.  The trawlers were done en prom air in the harbour yesterday . Not sure there wil something later on! Gill xx
Some wonderful sketching everyone. I'm trying my nitram charcoal out before I start work on my cast. I've sketched this and blocked the darks in using a reference photo. I'll render it and do the subtle shading tomorrow. It will give me a good feel for the range of nitram charcoal I have.
