The first Q&A session features in the summer issue of The Artist with the following questions answered: What is the best and cleanest way of disposing of dirty turps used for cleaning brushes? What is the best paper to use for oil pastels? I would like to paint watercolours on bigger than 510x380mm. How do I go about it considering this is the biggest pad and I can't find boards big enough to stretch paper bigger than this? Do I always need to stretch my paper?
The questions and answers will also feature on POL soon.

Snag is, I've been painting so long I don't have that many questions left. But, just to show willing, I'll ask a question about oil painting to which I think I already know the answer, but it might help others (cunning that, isn't it? What they call humble-bragging, I think...)
Right then here goes - I have an oil painting that I finished, or thought I had, about a year ago. Looking at it recently, I realized there was an unresolved area that could be improved, and so I painted some details over it; not in a total re-paint, but just adding more pigment to particular areas. I hadn't used any medium in the first layers over which I painted, but used a little Linseed oil to the areas I added. Is this likely to cause cracking or adhesion problems in future?

I've bought some Gamblin cold wax medium from Jackson's, and using it for scumbling with quality artist's oil paint, using both a knife and a sturdy brush. However, it is still a little on the wet side to get the textures that I'm after. Is it advisable to add chalk dust to this mix without any adverse long term effects to the oil paint? Which product from your range do you recommend.

I like to try out different watercolour paint brands. Just recently I've purchased a set of Daler- Rowney 12 full pans. I've been on the Jackson's art site but cannot find
the full pans for replacement, my question
Do you sell them?
I have phoned to ask, but no reply after pressing the required redirect number, maddening.

landscapeart (6/15/2019)Hello Pat, thank you for your question- the answer has been printed in September's issue of The Artist! You can view it here: https://www.painters-online.co.uk/ugc-1/1/12/0/1_WP_AskJacksons_Sept19.pdf
I have read that acrylic paint should not be diluted too much with water as it reduces the binding properties. Does a coat of varnish help to bind the paint to the surface or would there be long-term problems?
