Welcome to this weekend's bonus artist , Charles Spencelayh 1865-1958. A very accomplished artist who I came across whist researching for the thread . I was very impressed with his style of painting and the detailing in them . The ones chose come from his dig for victory series in WW2. My first choice was the old man with the violin, Fading Memories . The last one is Artist workshop. I hope you enjoy his work as much as I have .
My goodness! That last one is amazing!
Very impressive and yet another artist I have never heard of! Thanks Dixie. I will look him up.
You had the same reaction as I did Marjorie  , I think I said almost the same thing when I first spotted it , and I’m still finding bit I didn’t notice before.  Enjoy your viewing Tessa.

Just had a look through his work, an interesting artist I’d not heard of before. These are two of his paintings which stood out for me, especially the rose in the rusty can - and the lovely soft colours in the portrait.

A new one on me also! Obviously a very talented and skilful painter who was able to tackle a range of varying subjects with equal excellence! His eye for meticulous detail is almost beyond comprehension…

New to me too, but thank you Dixie.  This is a brilliant bonus choice.
Your welcome Tony, it’s been great fun looking up all the different artists. I have a list of about 60 at present most are not  widely known, but I’m sure some people will know of them. I will keep the thread going as long as people want and aren’t getting bored with it. There are some outstanding artists and some superb paintings that are relatively unknown, it really pleasurable bringing them to the notice of fellow artists, plus I’m learning so much as well.

That’s a great choice Alan , he is certainly a masters of detail. Two superb paintings Jenny I do like the rusty tin, but then I would it’s rust.
Here are a couple more that I like. He must have been very productive, and such detail!
Totally amazing, but I guess he had a lot of time on his hands.  I prefer the simpler compositions though as Jenny has posted.
I suppose that back then there wasn’t the distractions that we have these days , every day things like shopping etc . Can’t resist adding a couple more of his superb paintings.
