His work reminds me of the Pitman Painters.  I'll dig out my book and see if he's one of them. They're one of my favourite subjects: men/women at work.  An important record of earlier times for posterity. Excellent choice.

A few that I particularly like …
Norette, I would say that he’s the most famous of The Pitmen Painters.
Jenny Those are the ones I was looking for- men at the bar with pint, flat cap and whippet! Love ‘em. A few more I like

Next week is a bit different to any we have done before, it’s the opportunity for you to post your own work . Pick one or a few if you want to post over the week of your own paintings that you are particularly proud of . It doesn’t need to be your best work as sometimes we are particularly proud of a piece of work that was a challenge or you found particular difficult to achieve . Explain why your fond of this particular painting , sketch, multimedia work , I have a couple in mind but I will post them one at at a time with my reasons for choosing the painting. Some don’t get shown normally but I still hold onto them .
Dixie, have we looked at the work of Simon Palmer? He is part of an exhibition in Burford shortly and his work looks familiar. He could well be a Jenny intro? We were typing at the same time.

Tessa, yes, I did an introduction for Simon Palmer - lovely stylised paintings of the English countryside, similar to the work of Ravillious and Nash.

He was featured in Wk 82 , quite some time back , I will need to look to see who introduced him .
Jenny and I were clearly posting around the same time .
Thanks both. Yes I really like his work and will have the opportunity to see it in the flesh shortly. He will be part of a mixed summer exhibition at the Brian Sinfield Gallery in Burford, for anyone who is in the area.
