Welcome to this week Inspiration Thread , the featuring artists for this week are :
Nicolas de Crecy and William Fraser Garden , Lew with start the week with his introduction to Nicolas de Crecy, and I will follow on Wednesday with an introduction to Willian Fraser Garden .
Do join in and share artworks by the featuring artist that you particularly like , it makes it far more interesting when we had more people taking part .
You don’t have to have a knowledge of art ( I certainly wouldn’t be here if we did) just explain why you like a certain painting or simple say “ I like this one “ .
Have a good week keep safe and enjoy your artwork.

Nicholas de Crecy is a French Artist and Cartoonist. Born in 1966. He produces cartoons and graphic novels. The novels are sometimes written and illustrated by himself, and he also collaborates with other writers. He's won numerous awards, and is very popular in Europe. His original art is in demand and is sold from many galleries.
He mostly works in pen and ink and watercolour, often in quite large scale....
The drawing below in one of the first I discovered by this artist. I was blown away by his apparent free-wheeling loose style, the brilliant characters, and how he paints buildings...
Drawing buildings is one of my bugbears, I try to avoid it...it's mostly laziness on my part...so when I see it, done as well as Nicolas manages, I'm immediately attracted to such work.
He will use references, but has become so skilled his buildings are enlarged and adapted by his imagination and years of practice. Some of his stories feature a fantasy New York in France.
I like the way he draws people...
For me, Nicolas is an incredibly original and talented artist.

All I can say is wow what a superb talented artist, I’ve not knowingly seen his work before today and Lew , IM BLOWN AWAY. The detailing in the buildings and the scene alone is incredible, then add the figures , you could spend ages looking at one single piece and find so much to see . Thank you for the introduction to his work Lew .

Lew , I’ve enjoyed most of the odd ball stuff you have introduced us too over the last couple of years , not always my favourites but certainly worth looking at and respecting the artists skill. Just you keep the odd ball stuff coming, it is entertaining and of course we gain from seeing the work and often pick up on something that interests us .
What I really enjoy is your enthusiasm for the subject and how you put it across, always full of information and detail.

Yes, Rackham is a master. I'm sure we've already covered him in these threads. I have a book of his art...one of my prized possessions.
Some more of Nicolas's drawings..
I particularly like this one...a riot of people at an art fair...and how he's casually put an unexpected ship in the background...
