Welcome to this weeks  thread ,your getting a break from my choices this week  , that will be a relief I know .  This weeks featuring artists are, Angus Wilson and John Lines . Jenny will open with her introduction to Angus Wilson and on Wednesday Tessa will introduce John Lines .  Have a good week and enjoy your art, be it your own or looking at other people’s work.

ANGUS WILSON was born (1970) and raised in Scotland, and has lived in numerous cities throughout Britain.  Originally attending college in the disciplines of photography, film and animation, he initially pursued a career in television and video as well as the computer entertainment market. In 2004, however, with his fine art work becoming more popular, he made the decision to pursue a painting career full-time, and in 2007 relocated to San Francisco Bay area.  He now works mainly in oil and acrylic, characterised by bold strokes and strong use of colour.  His work is considered to be reminiscent of Post-Impressionists such as Matisse, Gauguin and Cezanne but with a contemporary underpinning of modernist abstraction.

When I saw these - particularly the cactus painting - I thought "opals!": they have the almost indefinable quality of opals, colours that are captivating but not strident. And - given a recent request to identify a painting and finding a signature that looks as if a spider had fallen into a pot of red ink and then danced across it - I do like that simple and legible signature: it may be a small thing aesthetically, but it doesn't half make a difference if you're striving to identify a piece.
