Some of his work than in really like I hope I haven’t duplicated any already posted .
Oh wow what an artist...incredible.
He certainly is - beautiful work!
Good afternoon sorry I’m late posting my choice of artist I was busy running a workshop this morning. Mathew Alexander  was born in 1953 , educated at Simon Langton School Canterbury and subsequently at Canterbury College of Art Foundation, Maidstone College odd Art BA Hons and University of London PGGE. His father Chris Alexander (1926- 1982) the noted artist and lecturer has been a great influence on his painting. In 1974/75 he moved back to Margate when he secured a position at a secondary school and running courses at the local Adult Education Centre. In 1981 he took the decision to become a self employed artist . Some of his landscapes have been bought by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to furnish British Embassy’s around the world. I hope you enjoy my selection of his work.
Bringing it up before it gets lost .
There is something about Feng, brash almost that says 'American'.  And then there is Alexander whose work is so 'Brtish'.
That a great and very accurate observation Tony , I certainly agree with you.
I’m sure I have seen Matthew Alexander’s work at the John Davies gallery in Moreton near here, and it is very impressive and as you say very ‘English’, all in all rather lovely. Always a bonus to see art on the wall and full size rather than on the page (no offence to this site!).
Nice work! I am familiar with him, and have an exhibition catalogue of his. He often uses very heavily gessoed grounds, not dissimilar to Seago (although Seago used rabbit skin glue, real gesso and white lead). Some of his landscapes have obviously been influenced by Seago, I can see many similarities in some, but by no means all of his work. This one is very obviously a Seago style landscape, a very good artist in his own right of course! Great skies!
An excellent artist. I like his work very much - I know what Tony means, you can usually see the difference between American and British art.
Tony’s comment is interesting.  Z L Feng is a Chinese artist who didn’t move to the USA until his mid thirties, and his work probably owes more to the Chinese style of painting than any ‘brash American style’ (which is a rather sweeping statement!)

I tend to se ZL Fang’s work as Chinese not so much American but I’m sure his environment will eventually change how he paints especially as he want to sell them.  Some more of Matthew Alexander, he paints in oil what I like to paint in watercolour, to me he is one of the best oil artists I have come across but I’m sure there are others and I’m sure Alan would point me in the direction of a few more .
