Such an accomplishment artist , so  much to like about his work. He has taken watercolour to another level, I’m many way modernised it use , it’s often seen as an old school medium.  My final selection for this artist , I will post my second artist of the week tomorrow afternoon.

In all of these paintings, you have the glorious qualities of watercolour expertly used - the contrast of dry brush with rich washes, the glazing, strong colour, selective emphasis, the deliberate bleeding of one colour into another, the reserved areas of untouched paper - they make me want to stop waffling and procrastinating and get the paints out: even if I know I can't achieve the same  in this medium.

Change of artist to the one I intended to use as I featured Cottingham several months ago as a bonus artist but failed to put him on my list of artists featured. My choice of strips is one I  only came across recently and know very little of his work and can’t find a great deal of information about him . Moishi Sokal  was born in Israel at the time of its war for independence he grew up in the seaside town of Haifa . Mosishi move to Australia when he was twenty with I’d first wife and studied graphic art and design, he worked in the commercial art industry for twenty two years often taking time out to paint in third world countries and visiting Israel. He move to England with his Somerset born second wife in 1990 , and has since persuade a career as an artist in this country. He has a variety of work ,both form the time he visited various third world countries and since he settled in England, I have picked a few different types ,but do have a look online and see the variety for yourself.

I'm trying to work out the leopard picture, Paul.  Wondering, did he use gouache or masking fluid,  you wouldnt know the answer of course.  Going to look him up...

I just watched the video on his website, perhaps gouache, but certainly on watercolour paints, not acrylic or anything else. The second of these he says is his best piece, and took 10 days (would've taken me 10 years!)

From what little I’ve found  out about him , he uses watercolour mostly but I agree with you Norrette there might be a touch of gouache incorporated, not an unusual thing for highlights etc .  Some more of his work , I’m trying to show a variety of subjects he paint , tend to think he paints anything the takes a liking to.

He might use gouache, he might use a bit of masking fluid - not in all of these paintings though: that one at the top is free of any body colour, as is the flower painting three up from the last one.  Whatever he uses - he's good!
