Welcome to this weekend’s bonus artist thread the featuring artist this weekend is : Peter Brook 1927 - 2009, a British artist who was born and lived in the Pennine village of Scholes near Holmfirth known as the Summer Wine country . His family were farmers and he grew up amoung milk carts and helping with hay making, both the winter and the Pennines would continue to play a large part in this Yorkshire painters life .
Peter was educated at Barnsley Grammar School before moving on to teaching training at Goldsmiths College part of the London University, while in London he visited art galleries and exhibitions whist also attending evening clas in life drawing.
There is a good Bio on cookhousegallery.co.uk
I hope you enjoy my selection of his artwork.

I do like his work Dixie, and have just read some more background about him. He really captures the feel and harshness of the Pennine landscape, it’s weather and people. He also adds some humour to his work which I also like to see. I will try to select one which may be difficult as he was very productive.
So I found these two…

`I think his winter scenes are his most likeable work, though I find him curious. Some of his paintings are outstanding, others look almost naive. I liked both of these examples below. The first 'Walking the Dog" I find particularly pleasing, though the dog is hard to find. The second is also outstanding, except for the sheep behind the gate - it almost looks as though it was painted by a different hand.
