Ulcerative colitis is a horrible illness - my heart goes out to her as she struggles with that, while still making these fantastic (there's really no other word for them!) paintings and drawings.  Self-taught is interesting - it would be foolish to decry academic training, and I try not to be foolish!  But I do wonder what direction her work would have taken, or in what avenues it might have been pushed, if she had had it.  A daft question, because obviously one can't know, but it is an indication that we can learn through our own devices; inability to attend art school is not necessarily the graveyard of your ambition.

Some more of her beautiful work. It’s the little details that make her work so appealing, although sometimes you have to search for them - like all the little mice in the second above - and love the one in the last image which looks like it’s smelling the flower  - it certainly appeals to my inner child!

A few I like unfortunately I can’t get a better image of the horse , I love the bit of humour in some of her work.

Well here we are a few day away from Christmas and all of us busy with family and friends , I took the decision to make next week a Free post week . I thought that we could post any painting that we find particularly interesting or inspiring, doesn’t  matter if we have posted it here before and it can me on any medium. I know it difficult to chose just one so why not post several, what will help if you say why this or these particular paints . Have a good weekend and rest up for the busy week ahead ,  my weekend start with fifteen dinner guests tomorrow night with eight stay over till late Sunday afternoon  after a Christmas dinner.   Keep safe and well , hope up you all get lots of art goodies .
