Welcome to Week 102 of the Inspiration from Artists thread , this weeks featuring artist are David Day and Judith Bergerson .
I will open with a introduction to David Day and on Wednesday Jenny will introduced the artwork of Judith Bergerson.
David Day, After a successful career in Interior Design David first concentrated on watercolour painting before moving on to acrylics. He currently uses acrylic paint, Indian ink and oil pastel. His work reminds me very much of Kyffin Williams and several others artist we have featured.
I hope you enjoy my selection of his work.

Paul, I really like this artist’s work, but have seen most of these before - I remember the very distinctive way he puts vertical lines in a lot of his paintings. I don’t recall his name, but we’ve looked at so many different artists, the names don’t always register, but the work usually does.
(Just checked, he was the bonus artist in week 58 - but well worth another look.)

I also like his work very much and remember seeing it last time. Definitely worth a second look if only briefly!
The sheep in the second painting are just a delight. Why are sheep so appealing to paint and draw? The last one is of the Monnow Bridge in Monmouth which I did a version of a few years ago between lockdowns. Memories!

I’m sorry that I messed up and re introduced the same artist I clearly dint look properly when I checked the list . I was going to remove it and add a different artist but thought I would leave his work for a second viewing . I do think of Sir K Williams work when I look at David’s painting as I see so many similarities here are two of Kyffin Williams painting be interested to see what you think .

JUDITH BERGERSON is an American artist who works in her native Wisconsin. She holds a degree in Fine Art from St Olaf College in Minnesota, and has taught art in public schools as well as in a variety of private classrooms and workshops. She is primarily a painter in acrylics but also produces artwork using mixed media and collage. She paints in acrylics mostly on a stretched canvas. Her method is to build a painting by adding layer upon layer, and the fact that acrylic paint dries quickly makes it the perfect medium for her style.
She has had a lifelong fascination with shapes, textures, lines and their relationships and it’s the interaction between the forms that she finds most exciting. She is also fascinated by contrasts and uses these to add interest to her work - warm v. cool colours, texture v. smooth areas, structure v. loose.
She either begins a painting with a relatively realistic rendering of the subject, then lets the painting itself determine the outcome. Or, she may start randomly, covering the surface with colour and texture, from which she pulls out shapes and, again, lets the painting dictate what next steps to take. Both approaches are step by step and it’s this process that she finds most exciting about making art.

The last two above are mixed media/collage.
