I’m sure if you have the find  something might catch your eye Janis. The good thing is that it changes weekly and like you , even the most experienced of our members discover something new , we never stop learning. It think it’s the variety of artists and the subjects they paint not just their style that makes it so interesting. It’s rewarding when you come across a artist you done know of or some of their work that you didn’t know about . I have to admit to get a bit of a buzz when I put a artist on the weekend bonus and someone has not seen their artwork before even better when like this week the majority have not heard of the artist, nor had I till two weeks ago. As to my choices I’m luck particularly with the bonus artist as I get first dibs at their work.
Welcome Janis.  I tend to agree  with you re Robert Noble.  I might have walked past his stuff in an art gallery. .

Don’t know how many of us follow POL on Facebook, but in case you haven’t already seen it, Dawn has just posted the following which might encourage more people to get involved.  POL has a large following on FB.

I don’t use Facebook, but that’s  really go to see , thanks for posting it Jenny and a big thanks to Dawn for doing it .
Had another look at Robert Noble’s work - overall it doesn’t really appeal to me, although I do like the cornfield painting already posted - and came across this one which has an interesting composition and lovely colours.

I hadn't encountered Robert Noble before - he seems to have been extremely versatile, and while I could walk past some of his paintings without all that much attention, his painting of flowers, blossom etc is extraordinarily accomplished.  Interesting about his "Victorian" palette - instructive to compare with Alfred East's, for whom I must do an intro for Dixie; I think East might have been a little more skilled as a colour-mixer - there's a subtlety in his work that maybe Noble doesn't quite achieve; but talking about oil paintings when one's only seen an on-screen version is setting oneself up for confusion - I remember being bored by Constable's Cornfield, until I saw it in the flesh - what had seemed lowering, dark and academic suddenly was everything but.   PS - that is an entirely beautiful Fred Cuming that Dawn's put on the FB page, and one I hadn't seen before,

Dawn chose Fred Cuming to start of the thread as she admires his work and I’m sure has quite a lot of knowledge about his paintings . I don’t use Facebook but the painting as Jenny posted it looks really good. Looking forward to your into of Alfred East, particularly as you have wet my appetite with your comparison.
