These are a few of my favourite things - trees, boats, and the sea.  So Mr Slater is right up my street; I particularly liked the painting of the horses pulling a caravan; and yes, those great boats.

ARANTZA SESTAYO (born 1964) is a self-taught Spanish painter and illustrator, whose career path ranges from realistic and children’s illustration to comic strips.  She applies her skills across several mediums including oil, watercolour, pencil and digital. Her work is influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite and Art Nouveau styles, with a focus on realistic fantasy illustrations inspired by children’s classics such as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.  Some of her work has produced covers for Penguin Random House, and she has contributed to the special edition Game of Thrones 20th Anniversary by Harper Collins Publishers.  She has also produced illustrations for a signed Deluxe Illustrated Edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

I like the witch.  The rest?  Very skilfully done, but .... well, I suppose I just don't like it: can't criticize its execution, the ability of the artist, but it's far too much like fantasy art illustration to interest me.  Mind you, second thoughts: that's basically what it IS - can't really moan if artwork fits the brief.

I'm a fan of fantasy art, not all of it, never all of anything, but this artist gets my vote.  I prefer the Alice in Wonderland paintings shown above.  They are superb.  Too much Fantasy art is glamour girls and monsters, there's a couple above but painted more tastefully.  If you don't like fantasy art it won't appeal, but it does to me very much. A couple I like... The faces?  The cast of a fantasy film.  That was the commission.  Superbly done. The Alice painting?  Marvellous!

Superb artwork the details are absolutely amazing , demonstrating the skill of the artist beautifully. I cannot claim to be  a fantasy art fan but there are a lot of them that I like and admire not only for the skilled artwork but the subject or part or the subject is appealing. When they are painted as skilfully and beautifully as the work displayed who cannot but admire and like some of them. Thanks Jenny I did not know this artist before your introduction .

Delightful work.  The Alice paintings so well done, and the last portrait is terrific.  For me, one of the best artists in this series of threads.
