David Day was born in Ebbw Vale in 1941 , he attended Ebbw Vale Grammar School, Newport College of Art and Leeds College of Art .
He gained a National Degree in Design and Interior Design , his initial career was as a interior designer. He initially painted in watercolours then move on to acrylics, he now typically uses acrylic paint, Indian Inks and oil pastels.
I hope you enjoy his artwork.

Another artist I was unaware of but find his work very pleasing though not sure about those vertical lines in some of his work.
Many of the scenes, being in South Wales, are very familiar to me, and I do like his way of reconstructing the view. The first is of the Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay.

I though at first that the vertical lines were for labelling or something similar, then I noticed them on a lot of his work.
Your right Sylvia, Wales has produced some excellent artists in addition to musicians etc. I suppose design look is influenced by working for many years as a interior designer. His paintings are quite pleasant to look at and have a relaxed atmosphere to them.

Really enjoyed looking at these works. Their graphic style is very appealing ( apart from some of the black, vertical lines). I like the humour in the paintings with flocks of geese. In one, there is a black goose! In the other, one goose is looking as if towards the viewer - maybe I just have an odd sense of humour!

I hadn't heard of David Day before now but I do like his work, and like Tessa, I do like his take on familair South Wales scenes. I'm not sure if it's just me but his palette and subject matter (the farmer and his dog, for example) reminds me a little of Kyffin Williams... but the comparison ends there!
