He has also painted in many other places - Brittany, Ireland and Venice are a few of them.
Thank you for your introduction to John McCombs artwork Hillary, he is new to me and from your selection I can see he is a fine artist. I will have a better look at his work later a pick some out .
Dixie - just wanted a little correction - as the artist isRay Balkwill, the previous artist being John McCombs. No worries!  Hope people find the thread...
Ray Balkwill, another interesting and excellent artist. Has he written for the Artist magazine? Some of his work seems familiar to me.  I found some of his Plein air sketches which I like. Also what he calls Assemblages which are mixed media pictures using found weathered material gathered from the shoreline. This is called Through Salted Grey October Skies. Feeding Grounds, Exe Estuary. Autumn Sunshine, Maer Lane. Evening Fanfare. I do like his style very much and his skies are wonderful. Thanks Hil for the intro. His website is well worth a look.
He has indeed had articles in The Artist (Hilary did say so in her intro) and those are among the few magazines I've kept - nothing against the magazine, it was a question of space. Keep an eye out for his representation of gulls - not for him the classic "V" shape!
Sorry Hillary brain in a different gear , I knew what I wanted to write .
Robert, you are of course correct! I obviously had not engaged brain before reading the intro. I am now hunting gulls, or at least paintings of…. Ah yes I see what you mean, these are all watercolours.

Well it’s the end of another week the time seems to fly by and two more excellent artists work displayed.  Next week the two artist featured are two brothers William Lionel Wyllie and John William  Wyllie , both who I came across a few weeks ago while researching for the thread . I  Feel a bit greedy posting two in the same week but I thought it interesting to post both at the same time . I will open the thread on Sunday evening as usual .
I do like Ray Balkwill’s work, especially the maritime ones that Tessa has posted - thought I recognised the name, must have seen his articles in The Artist.  (Paul, when I logged in this morning, it said thank you for your report - I haven’t reported anything - at least not intentionally - not sure what happened there!)

Have you reported any Spam message or just clicked to say spam , that’s all I can think of .
No, not intentionally anyway - was just concerned that you might see it and think I’d reported a POL member’s comment!

I would not have thought that Jenny, and if you had you would have said something on the forum about it , the message was probably only seen by you .
