Welcome to this weekends Bonus Artist John Caesar Smith 1930- 2021.  Born in Hatton he had a natural love of the countryside and was awarded a arts scholarship to Deacons Grammar School. Sadly his father passed away when Cesare was 15 and he became a pan apprentice in the field of engineering. He worked for Mitchell Engineering for twenty five years eventually becoming the Chief Planning Officer . He would have had a major hand in designing the power stations that were built in Britain and Southern Ireland. He completed his National Service in the REME reaching the rank of sergeant. In 1970 at the age of forty Cesare had a career change and left the rat race to throw himself into his great passion Art. He specialised in oils and is described as a romantic landscape painter. He was named among the best hundred artists in Adrian Vincents book- 100 years of Traditional  British Paintings.  I hope you enjoy his superb landscape, the more I see the more I like his work but I realise it might be a bit to detailed for some people.
That Robin is a little gem.  Some lovely rural scenes.  Good find .
The treescape in snow is a lovely pared-back painting with a great sense of dry cold. In some of the others I feel the horizontal linear texture of the support (or is it the reproduction?) is showing through and is slightly distracting to me at least. Obviously a very talented artist with infinitely more patience than I possess.
Really like his landscapes - they have a peaceful, gentle feel to them.

Some superb peaceful rural scenes, obviously greatly skilled with his tree paintings, and I do like those little puddle details, especially the last of Jenny’s above.

His trees are superb clearly a man who spent hours looking at them and it fits in with his love for nature.

Trees and more trees! He certainly captured them in wonderful detail.
I love painting trees as well: but not AS well. I really must work on this.
Incidentally, this is yet another artist I had never before encountered.  This thread has been (still is) of great value - well done to Paul Dean, whose idea it was.
Well knowing that I have pleased Mr Jones  has made my day , no sarcasm meant it’s really rewarding and makes it worthwhile known that people are enjoying and learning . I have to say  It’s quite selfish really as I get a great deal out of the research and the information about other artists from you nice people as well. Thank you Robert for the kind remark , I’m a tad embarrassed but I’m  enjoying it anyway.
So agree with Robert. It is a super addition to the forum Paul and thank you....hip ...hip.....
Thank you Sylvia . Please stop as the thread is about artists and my head is starting to swell , if any thanks should be handed out it’s to you guys for supporting it and the lovely Jenny for keeping me in line .
