Welcome to this weeks bonus artist in what is one of the most historic weeks in our history. I had decided two weeks ago to feature the paintings of HRH The Duke of Cornwall, know to us all as Prince Charles. Little did we know at the time of writing this I would be referring to him as His Majesty King Charles 111  and featuring the artwork of our new monarch. God bless our late Queen and God Save the King . I hope you enjoy my selection of his artwork . N

Nice intro Paul… I’ve seen many of the paintings by our new King, a very enthusiastic amateur painter - nice selection, I’ll have a look for some more later.

Alan/Paul - if you've time, do have a search for any paintings by the Duke of Edinburgh as well; he kept his own talents well-hidden, I believe, but I know he painted in oil.  I like those watercolours - they ARE restrained and controlled, as is the man himself on the whole, but they show a sensitivity to colour and atmosphere.
I have seen quite a lot of his work before - these two are very atmospheric with lovely colouring.

I’ve found these two by the Duke… there are more!
Well done Alan they are difficult to find . I found the one set above and a couple of others.
Some more paintings by the King.
I do like that first one of the castle and gardens… great tonal depth achieved with the heavy tones on the foreground trees and strip of grass! Something resembling the style of the ‘old masters’… which I’m sure he has seen a great many hanging in Windsor castle to name just one!

Thanks all for these.  The one with the moored boats would make Charles about 11 yo.
I really do hope he continues to find the time to carry on painting in the undertaking of this new role. It would be such a shame if he couldn't carry on with the enjoyment of painting.
How interesting.I had a book of Charleses paintings once upon a time, must go Ona search.  Like his dads as well. On a similar vein Winston Churchill was a very proficient artist...and wall builder .

I’ve always found this painting by Edward Seago interesting… He’s captured the Duke working at his easel aboard the Royal Yacht! I have it in good authority that Seago gave lessons to both the Duke and our new King!
