Welcome to this weekends Inspiration from Artists the bonus artis this weekend is Christopher Jarvis . Chris was was born and brought up in Kent and from a early age was Interested in art . As a teenager he became a professional drummer in the pop scene of the 1960s. In 1988 he decided to become a full time artist. In 1998 he move to Rochester since then his work has been extensively published and exhibited throughout England particularly in the south east .
I hope you enjoy his artwork, he is another of the many artist new to me I only became aware of his work a month ago.

I also prefer his countryside paintings Jenny , though I do find his urban landscape interesting . I suppose it comes down to having always preferred landscapes and country scenes etc. He is one of those artists that I like due to his style of painting no matter what he painted I think I would enjoy it.

He does seem to have some nostalgia for the past - including a farming scene (the first picture posted) graced by elm trees, which will long since (sadly) have gone. There is a market for that, of course - to turn a bob or two, maybe more of us should exploit it!
I might have given away already that some of this work isn't really to my taste, but he is certainly a master of sky painting, and a superb draughtsman. I have, perhaps, a prejudice that we should be painting what we can see today rather than what others saw in the past, but there's that word "should" - what an artist should do is what that artist wants to do.

Little miss perfection me has a complete thingy about copying other peoples work....I just don't do it. If I see a photograph I like I ask permission to use it. Plus if I'm not sure how long a rabbits ears are or the colour of an Orang Utans bum is I will look for reference.
But each to his own...I won't shout or condemn....well, not today.
