A new one on me also…
Yes, a classical style to some of his work as Robert has alluded to, not a style that particular excites me but a highly competent painter!
I love that tree in Paul’s selection also, a stunner…
Just having a look at Turner as we speak, I’m not doing a cut and paste job on the text but coming up with my own thing, I’ll try and be reasonably brief!

I like reading about the various artists and seeing examples of their work. Some are familiar names and some less so. It's always interesting to learn something new.
I'm just not a fan of this style. It kind of reminds me of biscuit tins and calendars my grandmother had in the 70s. It's just my personal taste.

Thank you for commenting Janis it always good to have peoples views, it’s a good job we don’t all like exactly the same artwork. You you have a artist that you particularly like we can add them to the list , often it’s the relatively unknown artists that surprise us . Don’t worry about doing a big technical intro as I know very little about art techniques etc and don’t consider myself a art buff but I do know what I like and don’t like .

Robert, you mentioned sketches, there’s a whole section of sketches on his website - and interestingly, he says that although he likes to work with various mediums and techniques, his favourite is oil paint made by himself in the traditional way. I wonder how many artists today still do that?
