There's a real treasury of work here - to choose a favourite might be a little ... crass, perhaps. But, I will! Of all of them, the painting of that graceful ship, the Ruahine, does it for me: I've always appreciated these older ships, certainly by comparison with the way they build them now: the sweeping lines, and the strength and bulk combined. And Morton - known locally as "Cavey", by the way - caught that completely.

I really find his paintings pleasing having an interest in ships. I like the older ships. I boarded the Colombian Flag ship Gloria, when she was in Liverpool, she is a three mastered barque. Built in Spain in the 60's but I had the feeling I was walking around a ship from the 18 hundreds. The street view posted by Tessa is just wonderful.
