These are both by Boris Kustodiev. First is Maslenitsa, the second called Show Booths. I agree, Paul, Monsted is a genius with snow.  Happy New Year all.
Gustave-Caillebotte
Some really good paintings posted , a couple from me today. Breathing the ice , George Moreland 1792 Snowy Landscape, Francesco Fosch 1717.

A few I like. Casper-David-Friedrich... Richard Taylor, a militaria artist... This one caught my eye because of the warm colours.  Edward Hersey.
This is turning into a really splendid selection.  I had thought of posting the Caspar David Friedrich (Lew) and Monet's Magpie (Denise) and I wish I had remembered Caillebotte's Rooftops (Marjorie) - her little known Gaugin is a gem.  Norette's Kustodiev's Show Booths is a breath of fresh air too.  Probably my favourite (so far) is the second one down in Dixie's selection of Peder Mork Monsted's work - realism isn't always my favourite genre but when done as stunningly as that what's not to like about it?
I rather like this by Japanese artist Kuniyoshi, And another by Pissaro- Road to Versailles
A few more by Arthur Rackham - don’t think we’ve already looked at these.

Wonderful!
Yes wonderful Jenny.  All but one of these are new to me.  I already have a large book of Rackham's life and  work, but he was so prolific there's always something new to find.
Alister Austen Deans, New Zealand artist, 1915-2011. Known for his landscape paintings, a lot of which are Canterbury scenes. I selected a couple of snowy ones, one of which I think is Mt Cook, the other is Antarctica, where he visited in 1981.

Looks like only the Mt Cook painting has posted. Will try uploading the other one.
