Welcome to week 53 of Inspiration from Artists this weeks artists are Angela Harding and John Byrne. Jenny will start the week off with her introduction to Angela Harding and on Wednesday Lewis will introduce us to his choice of artist John Byrne . I’m working on a list of artist that we have already seen and hope to post this once I’ve spell checked the name later in the week . Have a good week and enjoy the artwork.

Angela Harding is a British printmaker. Born in 1960 in Stoke on Trent she studied Fine Art and printmaking at Leicester Polytechnic followed by an MA in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. During her student days she was mainly an etcher, but since 2008 has worked in lino/vinyl and silkscreen.
She works from her home studio which looks out over the farmland of Rutland. The recurring inspiration for her work is the flora and fauna of the British countryside and she attempts to capture the mood and atmosphere of her surroundings. There is an allegorical aspect to her work which references British art of the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s, and artists such as Eric Ravilious, David Jones and Winifred Nicholson.

I agree Carol. We have certainly been introduced to some wonderful artists I would not otherwise have encountered, and even the very few I haven’t particularly liked have been interesting to read about.
I have looked at Angela’s website. Some of her work is Lino cut, some silk prints, but she doesn’t really go into much detail.
Jenny will know I’m sure!
Over to you Jenny.
