Welcome to this weekend’s Inspiration fro Artists, the bonus  artist is Aled Pritchard Jone. Born in Bangor in Gwynedd in 1945 . He studied architecture at Bath university and later moved to Pembrokeshire where he worked as a architect until retiring in 2000. He then took up painting full time and moved back to North Wales , painting the scenery and mountains of North Wales. After previously using mainly pastels he changed to oils some years ago , a medium that gives his paintings a more rugged texture. I hope you enjoy his artwork I have since coming across his work a couple of weeks ago.
Just fabulous Paul thank you....I know those places well and he so obviously loves them.
I did think that you would like them Sylvia and remembered it was your part of the country. Hope you find some you like to share with us.
Magnificent paintings - I don't know the area anything like as well as Sylvia does, nor is this part of Wales where my father's side of the family came from; but I have visited it - and these paintings are so redolent of the place; the water is beautifully done, the mountains superlative.  I'm sure Sylvia will join me in a quick Cymru am byth....
Great choice Paul, brilliant paintings. I like everything about them but especially those beautifully captured cold, dark waters.
Diolch yn Fawr Robert...though I think Russell is proper Welsh , I just humped over the border and stayed.  Will look for more pics tomorrowPaul
Terrific paintings, brooding mountains and a sense of scale and majesty. Good to be discussing real art and not non-art! I will look further.

Well said Tessa.
Art at its finest. Toweringly majestic and extreme painting skill. Hat firmly doffed.  Can't get Treorchy male voice choir singing "All through the night"out of my head looking at these great paintings. ....not that I want to....

Powerful stuff, it’s all been said.
His landscapes have a 'solidity' that Cezanne would have been happy to capture, albeit in a different style.
Impressive work.  I love the colours in this one - Storm over Eryri (pastel).
