Hi, I have just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I am a very late starter, beginning my art journey almost by accident in my mid-fifty's. Fully self-taught I am very much a jack of all trades and master of none as I dabble in various media. My go-to preference is graphite, where I aim for (but never achieve) photo-realism and second to that I'm also a big fan of pen and ink work. I began my journey with watercolours but my most recent 'coloured' paintings have been with Pastel Pencils. I  am now dipping my toe into Marquetry and Pyrography, the latter being a very similar technique as drawing with pen and ink. Online I created my own website from scratch to display my work and also built my own forum focused on encouraging beginners, something close to my heart. I am a keen blogger, again focused on encouraging beginners. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. John

Hi John welcome to the forum.  Nice people , good advice and interesting. You seem to have touched on several creative subjects , sounds fun.  Put something on the gallery.

I know this isn't the right place to ask this question but I've exhausted my idea's. I am not receiving notifications by email when someone replies to this post or comments on one of my drawings. I've checked that emails are allowed in my profile and I'm subscribed to this topic. Is there something else I'm supposed to do please?

John did you press the subscribe buttons at the top right of this thread , as you then should get it flagged up when you open the POL site . Sorry if I’m asking a basic question and you already have , you don’t get a email just a red number in the message icon on the top of the screen.

Ah-hah!! Paul has the answer .... "you don’t get a email just a red number in the message icon". And yes Jenny, I have everything ticked that can be ticked. Every forum I've ever been on sends notifications by email so I automatically assumed it would be the same here.  Thank you both for your replies.
