I've bought a new watercolour set which I'm impressed with. Bought it in the Jacksons sale. Is it ok to review it or is that not really acceptable.  I'm not commissioned or anything. I just like the set and feel others might. If someone could let me know. Thanks.
That should be ok Julie , don’t put a link to any  websites etc and make it clear that it’s you who are reviewing it after buying a set and want to share your experience on the us on forum .
Thanks Paul. I realised I've just written where I bought it, but I won't in the review. I had no intention of making it commercial by links, as you say it really is about my experience. I just needed to make sure it would be OK.
Julie… when I’m reviewing artists materials or what we call ‘test reports’ for The Artist magazine, the editor encourages me to include as many brand names as possible! So, as an example: my last test report was for a plein air Artists quality watercolour set from W&N, so I included brand names of the paper I used, ie Fabriano Artistico, Rosemary & Co brushes, etc etc… Along with a series of photos displaying all of these brands. I also mention retailers such as Jackson’s. Many of them are either advertisers or potential advertisers in the magazine, so it is encouraged. So, feel free to promote to your hearts content, I’ll take the stick if anyone complains… which they won’t do. Paul is right, probably better not to use any links!
