Well its Friday again and I’m determined to write my blog, though I have to say its a bit daunting. (especially as spelling is not one of my great skills). I've spent all week thinking about a picture I want to paint. Up until now I’ve been painting fairly detailed pet portraits, but I’m feeling constrained and want to 'loosen up',,, I decided that the only way I could stop myself from painting minute detail was to use palette knives. I live near Shaftesbury (Dorset) and it seems to be obligatory to paint gold hill, (hovis advert) There are a lot of artist around here and some wonderful paintings of it. I took a photo of gold hill during a thunder storm and decided to use this for my knife painting. I really enjoyed doing it and suprisingly I like looking at it. I like the way the houses might just slide down the hill...
