Watercolour Course

Watercolour skills

After a number of years of of painting and drawing I have now embarked on a second term of a watercolour course with a local teacher in my area of Chelmsford, Essex. We are tackling the basics in watercolour but as everyone knows it is a difficult medium and each of the skills and techniques needs practice. This is what I get from the course as well as contact with other students.

A good cathartic write RPJ...do the classes, buy the books, watch the videos oh and convince yourself you are studying art. When if you pick up a brush dip it in some pigmented vehicle and simply apply it to a surface then you are learning how to express your heart-soul-spirit by actually doing art and producing a work of art that is the best you can achieve on that day. tomorrow's artwork will always be a better work. to describe one's art as 'self-taught' is a disservice to those who educated you in the past. We all picked up some basic skills in primary education and the luckier ones continued it into secondary education. The elite of course got into art schools.
