HMS Hood/Bismarck 70th Anniversary Tribute

Hi. I am an artist living in West Wales, specialising mainly in oil paintings of motorsport. At the moment, however, I am in the midst of a website project which is a tribute to the 70th Anniversary, this month, of the sinking of the Bismarck and of HMS Hood - a pivotal and dramatic few days of May 1941 when thousands of valiant sailors, both British and German, sadly lost their lives. In their memory, I am creating two large (3' x 4') oil paintings - one is of the Bismarck in the Denmark Strait just after the sinking of the Hood; the other is of the Mighty Hood in happier days, docking in Vancouver Harbour in 1924. The paintings are quite different in character and can be seen developing, from blank canvasses to finished works on my website www.wall-smacker-art.com I hope you will log on and have a look - you can also read about the history of the ships, my notes on the paintings, and join in a forum where you can add your comments or suggest titles for the finished works. The first print of the HMS Hood painting is to be signed by Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope, First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval staff and will be donated for auction for the British Forces' charities. Please join in - the more people that do, the better it will be. The project started on 1st May and so the paintings are on their way. Have a look and see what you think! Many thanks. David
