THE LOST YEAR

THE LOST YEAR

Learning to live with a dicky heart and recalcitrant kidneys.

I began to feel ill in May, 2014, about the time I made my last entry. June showed no improvement and towards the end of the month found me in the local ITU following two heart attacks. Worse followed. I was hit with complete organ failure and I was rushed to the Andalusian Major Renal Unit in Carlos Haya Hospital in Malaga. I wasn't expected to be alive by the time I arrived but somehow, unbeknown to me, I was hanging in there and they pulled me back. It has been a long haul and only recently have I had the strength to pick up a brush and start pushing paint around. So I'm afraid there is no new work to show today but I have several figurative pieces on the verge of completion and I hope to start uploading within a couple of weeks. So watch this space. In the meantime I have shed 10kgs in weight, still walk with a stick while I rebuild leg muscle although I am on the edge of managing without. So the future looks promising for as I get a bit more nimble the Reaper will have less chance of catching me out. It's good to be back.

Art is the best therapy. Keep on painting.

Welcome back indeed! What a terrible time you have had and I admire your fortitude and strength in wanting to get back to your painting. Take it easy though - no burning the midnight oil for the time being - daytime masterpieces only!

Welcome back, Brian - and may you wield your trusty brush for many more years to come!
