About Shadow

Sunday Drawing Class - 9 Today is the ninth week of Sunday's drawing class. We are learning about 'Shade and Shadow'. In our last lesson, we learned about shade. Each object in this world always has the shade of natural light, which gives it the visible features. When a ray of light falls on an object, it creates shadow on the background and in the base. Shadow makes three-dimensionality of the object visible. To better understand the difference of this 'shade and shadow', you can see the picture or video. Last week I just made a line drawing and with shade, I turned that to a three-dimensional form. But that form did not connect with nature. Nature means the background behind the form and the base, not shown there. But today you can see both of them are there with 'shade and shadow'. Last week's unattractive figure today got its character. This is the magic of shading and shadows. Now make a habit to find out 'Shades' and 'Shadows' from the objects around yourself. Next week, we will draw directly from a real object and learn how to find out where the shadows and the shades are.
