Sunday Drawing class - 10

What is sketch?

SUNDAY DRAWING CLASS - 10 Hello and welcome to today's Sunday Drawing Class. Today is the tenth day of it. Understanding the 'Shade and Shadow' is going on. But today, let's talk about a more vital topic. And that is sketching. For a long time, almost 30 years, I have spent with the art and realized that many people just do not know what is the difference between a sketch and a final painting. In the world of arts, anything that we do before drawing/painting is called a draft sketch, which is usually done with a much quickly and without much attention towards the measurements. What is the base of that we are going to draw /paint? A real drawing/painting takes birth from that draft after lots of improvements and modifications. There are many instances when the viewers appreciated my painting as a good sketch. Generally, sketching is not a slow process. And this valuable fact is quite an unknown one. For an artist, his/her draft sketch should be quickly drawn. Conversion of draft sketch into painting is comparatively a very time consuming process, which requires considerable experience and observations. We are discussing this because from today we will try to speed up our sketching process. Throw out the habit of using eraser repeatedly to create a sketch. Try to do it fast and with light hand. Practice it well. I repeat that don't expect to draw a perfect sketch in the first attempt. If after two or three trials you are able to create an almost perfect draft sketch, that means you are evolving as an artist. And that’s how the development of art takes place. Start with anything in your vicinity, anything which available in your house, example book, box, box, bottle, etc. But it should be located or placed in good and sufficient light, which comes through windows. Instead, you may use a table lamp so that the light comes from one source. Now please practice sketching as I explained above. Watch the video to understand better. https://www.youtube.com/attribution_link… See you again next week. Waiting for your kind response ...
