'struggles of a painting idiot' - busy, busy

Just noticed I haven't written anything on this blog since November. I seem to have been very busy. Art club has finished until January and I am already missing it. But not missing the country drive in the dark to Maldon. The drawing group has been going well and I have tried to do my homework. Started a big pencil drawing from a photo (don't groan), of autumnal woods. I never realised how long it was going to take and how much hassle it was going to give me. Found it very difficult to get past the sketch stage and into darker tones and more detail. Then I decided to colour in all the autumn foliage colours with water colour pencils which I haven't used before. It got more interesting and exciting then and am still working on it instead of watching the goggle box. The best drawings I have done recently though were portraits from a model at the art club. Yesterday the loft insulation was upgraded and am hoping it is going to make a difference to how warm the house stays. Am now picking lumps of what looks like hairy mangy cat fur out of the stair carpet. Off to another expensive calorific Xmas lunch today.
