So Far

I have been painting for over thirty years and as a professional painter, I have had in excess of one hundred mixed and solo exhibitions. Many London galleries include The Summer Show Royal Academy of Arts, with exhibitions held in Europe, New York, and USA. This includes, The Summer Show - The Royal Academy, London, Cork Street Gallery, London, The Discerning Eye - The Mall Galleries, London, Le Chat Noir Gallery, Mayfair London, Logos Art Gallery, Bloomsbury, London, The Knapp Gallery, London, The Fruit Market Gallery - 7th National Award, The Spectator London, Galleriart - Kirkcudbright, Scotland, Edinburgh & Sotheby's New Bond Street, Galerie de Vis Noorderhaven, Holland, The Williamsburg Historical Art Center, New York, America, Interart Gallery New York City, USA, British Artists - The Jarvis Center, New York Art Expo 99, New York City, USA

I interweave my imagination with direct observation and attempt to express more than can be seen by the mere mechanics of the human eye. People have said that some of my paintings remind them of old stained glass windows as light seems to shine out of them, in the form of sunsets, full moons, or some magical source. My work is known as magic realism, painting the past and present, mixed with imagination. The town where I live has found its way into my work. Whilst other works although imaginary, may portray extraordinary Fairgrounds and circus folk, who seem like real people, with real life concerns behind masks and props of a circus life, and although some sense a magical quality in the work, I hope to portray something of our own lives, struggles and hopes in my paintings too.
