Skies

Why are skies so hard to paint in water colour? I try so hard to get my skies to be just right. Background colour works well but the clouds look like cotton wool balls just stuck on the picture. I get the clouds right but the blue looks wrong so I start to fiddle and then it starts to look like mud. I really don't know how to get them right. The other day I was painting a sky wet in wet just put in the blue then the yellow ochre and the phone rings its a friend who I have not spoken too in ages so I get up from my painting and put on the kettle while I am chatting after half an hour finally say goodbye. All that time the wet in wet is working a magic and when I go back to my painting wow a lovely sky totally by leaving it alone. So tried to repeat the same again only to mess it up by fiddling. So I think I have the answer get some one to phone just at that moment when I am about to fiddle. Now just to arrange those phone calls and every sky is a winner marvelous.
