Senior moment

I have been 'painting' for about 3 years. a senior amature of 72. I like watercolour, but have started to dabble with acrylic. I have done a bit of graphite, and coloured pencil too. I like doing Pen 'n wash. I tried to uplad a few of my efforts, but didnt succeed. I live in North Lincolnshire, in a very rural village. Our internet connection is run off candle-power I think, so uploading is hit-and-miss. I hope to get some on this site eventually. I like doing flowers, and landscapes best I think, although I try anything that comes my way. I have managed to copy a few subjects 'inspired by Terry Harrison'. I like the gentle, rolling country-side he uses. we have some nice, interesting places round here, like the Humber Bridge, and East coastline. I love the sea, but getting my water ti look wet is another story. Sometimes I manage it, but not always. I havent had much success with animals either, although I love them. My little dog, Fizz, gets me out and about to find subject matter. I tried to capture her in acrylic, I will have to get more practice in before I dare show her what I have done or I will be accused of animal abuse. hahaha. Poor little mite. Ok, thats about all there is to know about me so far. I may add to this as soon as my old memory kick-starts again.

Sorry to hear about Max's breathing problems. My brother, who is 75 this year, has COPD and it has been terrible for him at times, especially if he gets a cold. He is a very talented artist himself and is frustrated when his breathing gets bad and he can't paint so well. Stay out of the cold - it doesn't help, but expect you know all this already. Looking forward to seeing Max's depiction of your lovely flowers. Take care, Thea.

I used to do a lot of these when we belonged to our garden club & have a few photo's of them all. I am so glad you liked this one. (Betty) Max really appreciates your comments & so do i. We had a trip to the doctors today(Max has breathing problems) in the snow luckily we had a lift but it was blowing a blizzard we were glad to get home out of it, but it melted through the day, not much snow left just icy. How lovely to take a walk on the sands we used to do it a lot, in the winter when the tourist are gone home its lovely to walk without being jostled, & many a time we have seen icicles hanging from the cliffs on christmas day a beautiful sight. It sounds like the lady artist you mentioned was very talented, we would loved to have seen her paintings. Max will try to have a go at painting one of my arrangements he said. We hope you have a safe journey home, will speak to you again soon. Betty & Max.

What a gorgeous flower arrangement and you did it yourself! What a talented couple you are. I do hope Max is going to do a lovely painting of it! We have had a little snow here in Norfolk, but back home in Shrewsbury they have had a lot. We are off home tomorrow after we have set the builders going. We had a lovely walk on Holkham beach this afternoon with the dogs. The sand was frozen and it was like walking on a crust! It was sunny and very little wind, which was a nice change. We have had a couple of walks with the dogs recently when it has been so cold that I have been counting the minutes until I can get back into a warm car. Fingers crossed, daughter is OK at present, but we don't count our chickens with her as she hasn't had much luck in the baby department. Thank you for your kindness in asking. I went to the gallery in Holt again today as there is an artist's work on show that has blown me away. Her name is Kay Ohsten. The gallery don't know much about her apart from the fact that she is local and these pictures belong to a collector who now want to sell them. They were painted in 1989, so don't know even if she is still alive. They are absolutely wonderful - I wish you could see them. Hope you are not having to dig yourself out of a snowdrift. Thank you once again for the very kind thought and showing me your lovely flowers. Thea
