This are not the usual injunctions to an artist, but to anyone familiar with the world of rallying, these three little words most certainly are! So, instead of writing about drawing and painting this week, I want to share a little of what I did recently, when I returned to Ireland, to undertake some most enjoyable (and rather breath-taking) driving with a very well known Rally School - who believe in pushing the driver to his or her utmost limits..... In lieu of my hands grasping a pencil or paintbrush, this time they were firmly planted in the ten to two position on a series of compact steering wheels - with the injunction of "foot flat to the floor" constantly in my ears! And what did I drive you might wonder? Well, I drove several cars during my sessions and these included a Subaru Impreza WRC, a (rally spec.) 3 series BMW; a Nissan 300X and.....a Porsche 911 Carrera S............... Need I say more? T0-day, though, I am back in my studio writing this blog, after which, I really must settle down and finish a painting of two dogs: but I plan on returning to that very special Rally School...
