Each time I start a new painting, I stare at the white untouched piece of paper with a mixture of feelings - anticipation, excitement, uncertainty. There is no doubt that I'm willing each one each one to be "the one!" The new painting has an advantage, it benefits from all the knowledge acquired from previous ones and I believe that we naturally evolve in our paintings. A few years ago, someone mentioned to me that once you start selling paintings, it is unfair to the people who have bought your work to change your style. I can understand this. I have however looked back at my work from two years ago and am amazed how much it has changed and I'm not sure that I could have stopped it even if I'd wanted to!
