I've started my first portrait concept piece. To say I am nervous is a little bit of an understatement! Firstly, with exception of the ears (which are pixie like) I want this to be an exact likeness of Elizabeth, and secondly I am pulling in elements I have never touched before (drawing butterfly wings, toadstools, leaves and bark) as well as having to use my imagination to pull the whole thing together as something that has illustrative qualities, with the element of realistic portraiture. Elizabeth is my eldest daughter and as an Armistice day baby, she shares a wonderful season with autumn in full swing. Her love of fairies inspired the drawing, and capturing her in a restful mood set the tone for the drawing. I just HOPE I can do this justice, and so far I am pleased with how it is shaping up.
