My painting of Burano will be at the Mall Galleries in the exhibition of the Society of Women Artists from Sept 27th-30th. Burano is a small island near Venice. The houses are painted in bright colours and I was inspred by the patchwork of interesting shapes and colours. There is a network of canals that reflect the colours and many bridges. The story goes that the buildings were painted in bright colours so that returning fishermen could see their home.
