After the Flood
After the Flood
My wife and I were flooded in the Queensland floods of 11 - 12 Jan 2011. Life since then has be rather chaotic to say the least. We are currently in a rental house, some 10 miles from home. We still await work to commence to refurbish our home. The insurance money hopefully will come through this week for our contents.
Still we cannot complain many poor people do not have insurance and have lost everything, and some are still living in caravans and tents. There are skips / dumpsters dotted about the streets now, as builders move in to renovate the destroyed houses in our suburb.
I really miss painting and hope, hope really hope to recommence to put some paint on canvas in the next few weeks. I have been keeping my eyes open for suitable subjects in this small Queensland town. There are some abandoned buildings in the area which always look good in an Australian landscape. Some of the buildings in town, like the old pubs have been built in 1908, which is old for Australia and will make great subjects for artwork.
We see light at the end of the tunnel and look forward to getting back in our home in the next few months.
