David Cotton
Biography
My artistic journey began in May 2023 during a cancer rehabilitation session. I had never taken an art lesson before, but I was told that art therapy and colouring could be a great way to reduce stress. When I got home, I bought an anti-stress colouring book and a set of felt-tip pens. I spent a few hours colouring, and I really enjoyed it. I felt like there was more to it, so I started sketching. I mostly used graphite, but I soon tried watercolours. Most of my inspiration comes from on-line resources, and photographs. I like working with watercolours, but I find it hard to blend correctly. I also like to apply ink at various stages and occasionally use it to finish my painting. I love working in perspective. I am 75, still learning and continually experimenting with different techniques, I am having a lot of fun and genuinely excited to see where this journey takes me
