In the 1900s, the Harrogate spa experience focused on the newly opened Royal Baths and its associated Turkish Baths, which opened in 1897, offering medicinal treatments like hydrotherapy, mud baths, and steam rooms, as well as medicinal water from local springs pumped to visitors. The town was a popular destination for people seeking cures for ailments like rheumatism and sciatica, with the Royal Pump Room also serving water from the town's numerous springs.
